Since President Bush assumed office in 2001 the unemployment rate has increased, 9 million more people are without health insurance, the price of gas has more than doubled and consumer credit debt has increased to $12.8 trillion.
In addition, Tennessee will be heavily hit with an estimated 441,703 neighboring homes experiencing devaluation and a $547 million decrease in the state’s overall housing values and tax base due to the foreclosure effect.
As your Congresswomen I will fight to repeal the Bush tax cuts to the top one percent of income earners and offer tax relief instead to middle-class families. I will fight to prevent future subprime crisis and strengthen protections against risky loans and prevent these bad loans from being made in the first place. I will fight for fair treatment for homeowners in bankruptcy to prevent up to 600,000 Americans from losing their homes in bankruptcy over the next two years.
