Nikki’s education agenda includes initiatives to strengthen the connection between public schools and families. Without a strong partnership between teachers and parents, children may not perform at their maximum potential.
She supports fully funding No Child Left Behind. Nikki believed school quality and student learning must be based on multiple measures and indicators not just on test scores. The cost of a college education has risen 40% in the last five years; each year 200,000 students are priced out of higher education. Nikki believer’s that no child who gets in to college and wants to go should be denied the opportunity because it is financially out of reach and will fight to make college more affordable |

That's roughly the number of Americans behind bars, according to a new study. For African-American men between the ages 20 and 34, that figure is one in nine. We can do better, and we need leadership that will make this a priority.
