There are 47 million uninsured Americans – 9 million of them are children. Nikki Tinker believes the number of uninsured people in our country is inexcusable and should be a national priority. Nikki Supports Senator Obama’s Healthcare plan that retains the private insurance system but would make available a new national health plan open to individuals without access to employer-sponsored insurance or current public programs. Nikki believes that the federal government must ensure the long-term viability of Social Security and Medicare. In addition Nikki supports strengthening the federal partnership with states and giving them the resources to expand Medicaid and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) to serve all adults under the poverty line and all children and parents under 250 percent of the poverty line. |
