Protect your right to vote

When you show up to an early voting site or to your polling place on Election Day, Tennessee's election laws require you to present identification, here's the details:

You can present any of the following items:

--Your current Voter Registration Card
--Your current Tennessee Driver's License
--A Photo ID which has your name and signature.

If you don't have any of those available, you can present any one of these:

--A Current government or private photo I.D. of any kind that doesn't have your signature.

--A current utility bill, bank statement, government check or paycheck

--Any other government document that has your name and address

Along with
any one of the items above, you'll need either one of these:

--Any document with your name and signature, like a Social security card or a credit card with your signature.

--An Affidavit of Identity.  This is an official form that can be provided to you at your polling place for you to sign.

It's frustrating to wait in line to cast your vote only to find that you are denied the right to head to the voting machine because you don't have valid identification.  Be prepared on Election Day and protect your right to vote!

Protect your right to vote

wood_ballot_box_100x100.jpgThis year's exciting elections have prompted many first-time voter registrations.  That's great news and here's a guide to the identification requirements for first-time voters who registered by mail.

One in 100 Americans

barbedwire_50x50.jpgThat's roughly the number of Americans behind bars, according to a new study.  For African-American men between the ages 20 and 34, that figure is one in nine.  We can do better, and we need leadership that will make this a priority.
